Conch Ceviche Recipe, Belizean Style

Here’s the recipe for Conch Ceviche, which is essentially a fresh salsa with raw conch or shrimp that has been “cooked” in lime juice and served with tortilla chips. So good!

Conch Ceviche Recipe, Belizean Style

*One pound, diced conch fillet (or shrimp)

*1/4 cup diced onion

*1 1/2 cup chopped, fresh tomato

*1/4 cup chopped green pepper

*1 cup chopped cucumber

*1/2 cup minced, fresh cilantro

*1 cup, fresh squeezed key lime juice

*1 tsp black pepper

*1/4 tsp Worcestershire sauce

*1 tsp baking soda

*1/2 cup chopped habenero pepper

Wash conch in one pint of water with baking soda (to remove any sand). Rinse clean and dice. Place freshly washed conch in a large glass mixing bowl, add chopped ingredients, and lime juice. Mix with wooden spoon. Add pepper and Worcestershire sauce. Let the acid in the lime juice “cook” the conch for no more than 45 minutes. Serve with tortilla chips. Enjoy!
